I know what it's like to look fine on the outside

I’m Sonia Joseph. For more than 11 years, I worked in fast-paced corporate environments, building a successful career and leading teams. From the outside, things were going well. But I spent a lot of that time worrying about what people thought of me. I found it hard to say no, avoided conversations I knew I needed to have, overcommitted because I didn’t want to disappoint anyone, and replayed interactions in my head wondering if I’d said or done the wrong thing.

For a long time, I thought this was just who I was. Through therapy, coaching and my own training, I started to understand the patterns behind how I was thinking and behaving, and how much my upbringing, cultural expectations and need for approval had shaped them.

The biggest change wasn’t that I stopped overthinking or suddenly became fearless. I learned to recognize when those old patterns were showing up and stopped letting them make every decision for me.

Today, I’m an ICF-certified coach, and that’s the work I help my clients do too: understand what’s keeping them stuck, build greater trust in themselves, and respond differently, at work, in their relationships and in the decisions they make for themselves.

I won’t promise to make fear, self-doubt or difficult thoughts disappear. They’re part of being human. Instead, I’ll help you understand what’s keeping you stuck and learn how to move forward even when those thoughts and feelings are still there. For example, if you’re afraid of having a difficult conversation, the goal isn’t to eliminate the fear. It’s to understand what’s behind it, give it less power over your actions, and build the confidence to have the conversation anyway. With practice, you can learn to trust yourself more and make choices based on what matters to you, rather than what fear tells you to do.
